We got up and rocked out of the campsite pretty early. Not because we're morning persons, but because there was no mobile network and we had stuff to do! The weather was the worst we've seen since leaving Japan - completely overcast.

My pinkie is still swollen. As it has been 8 weeks since my injury, I decided it was time to see a doctor. We got up at around 9 and made our way to the clinic. They'd received all the paperwork from the insurance company but they still needed me to explain the timeline and injury 5 times. I felt like I was being interrogated.

Our original plan was to head south today. But as Jeppe has, finally, gotten an appointment to have his finger looked at, we've changed our plans around a bit. Instead of setting out for Tekapo today, we headed north. Well, north-west and then north.

We had to hand the car back this morning, so we got up pretty early. About 2 minutes after we started clearing our stuff out, Wayne went through the car with a vacuum cleaner like a tornado. Luxury!

Kaitoke National Park

Today was hiking day. We did the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, which is a 19.4 km walk through a volcanic landscape. It's a one-way hike, so we had to park our car at then end of the track, and then catch a shuttle bus to get to the start of the track.
